James Malinchak Secret Millionaire

Motivational speaker and self-made millionaire James Malinchak will star in the March 20, 2011 episode of Secret Millionaire.

In season 2, episode 3, Malinchak will visit Gary, Indiana, live for a week on $44, and assist deserving organizations and people.

According to his website, Malinchak grew up in a small Pennsylvania steel town town Pittsburgh.  Word is that he gives away more than $100,000 of his own money on Secret Millionaire. His LinkedIn profile indicates that he lives in the Las Vegas, Nevada area.

Malinchak is also an author and the associate editor of the series “Chicken Soup for the Soul.” There are also numerous other books by James Malinchak.

In the season’s second episode, real estate developer Marc Paskin went undercover in Detroit, Michigan.

The episode featuring James Malinchak will air Sunday at 8 pm ET on ABC. Information about a replay schedule for this episode was not available at publishing time.

Ginnifer Goodwin Once Upon A Time Pilot

Ginnifer Goodwin Once Upon a Time Pilot“Big Love” and “He’s Just Not That Into You” star Ginnifer Goodwin will star the ABC pilot Once Upon A Time launching in 2011.

God will play a woman who is drawn to a small town in Maine where fairy tales may be real.

The show is produced by “Lost” producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

Goodwin, a native of Tennessee, may be best known for her work as Margene Heffman on the HBO series “Big Love,” where she played one of the wives of Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton).

Natalie Portman on Ellen

Natalie Portman, star of the award winning film Black Swan, will be a guest on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on March 14, 2011.

For her work in Black Swan, Portman won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for lead actress. For her role as a dancer, Portman trained up to 8 hours a day and lost 20 lbs.

In late 2010, Portman announced the she and partner are Benjamin Millepied are engaged and expecting a child in summer 2011. Millepied choreographed the film Black Swan, which is where the two met. A native of France, Millepied is a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet.

Portman appeared on the Ellen show on January 19, 2011 and talked about pregnancy and filming Black Swan. She also talked about her pickle cravings.

Kentucky Derby 2011 TV Schedule

The race known as “The Run for the Roses” is the first major event for 3-year old Thoroughbreds and the first leg of the famous Triple Crown series of horse races. One of the most celebrated stakes of all times, the race draws many millions of TV viewers from around the globe each year.

Held annually on the first Saturday in May, at the Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky, the race is a 1 1/4 mile race which is the first “leg” of the Triple Crown, which also includes the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. A horse must win all three to be the Triple Crown champion.

Kentucky Derby 137 – 5-7 p.m. EDT on NBC. Coverage of the most famous and anticipated race for Thoroughbreds, highlighting “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.”

The 137th running of the Kentucky Derby is a Grade I sakes race for 3-year-old Thoroughbred horses. It was first run in 1875 and is one of the oldest horse races in the U.S.

The total 2011 purse is $2 million. The winner’s purse: $1,425,000.

Debra Messing Smash Premiere

Former “Will & Grace” star Debra Messing will star in the upcoming NBC pilot called “Smash.”

The show is a departure from the smash hit “Glee” in that actors will be singing original songs penned by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman who are the Broadway composers to wrote “Catch Me If You Can” and “Hairspray.”

The show is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a new Broadway musical. The musical is inspired by Marilyn Monroe.

Katherine McPhee (American Idol), Jack Davenport, and Megan Hilty also star in the show, which is based on an idea by Stephen Spielberg.

Broadway actor Christian Borle will play Messing’s gay co-worker.

Since starring in “Will & Grace,” Messing starred in the TV series “The Starter Wife” and in the ABC comedy pilot “Wright vs. Wrong.”

Messing’s “Will & Grace” co-star, Eric McCormack, has had numerous TV gigs including parts on “The Andromeda Strain,” “Trust Me,” and “Law and Order: SVU,” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”

At time of writing, the pilot “Smash” air date was not clear.

Marc Paskin Secret Millionaire

Known as “The Donald Trump” of San Diego, self-made millionaire and sometime Elvis impersonator Marc Paskin stars on ABC’s Secret Millionaire, a show about millionaires who go undercover looking for individuals and organizations worthy of receiving a donation.

According to the bio on his company’s website, Paskin graduated from the University of Wisconsin and used $1000 in savings to put a down payment on his first piece of property. Over time he turned that investment into a portfolio of holdings across the U.S., including industrial holdings and apartment complexes.

Paskin, who didn’t have a lot growing up, earned money by peddling cotton candy and parking cars.

He is known for his charity work with organizations such as American Cancer Society and Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Bachelor Women Tell All 2011

Only two women – Emily Maynard and Chantal O’Brien – remain in competition for Brad Womack this season, which means it’s time for the Bachelor Women Tell All 2011.

The Women Tell All special episode has become a mainstay of the popular Bachelor series over the years. It features interviews with castoff bachelorettes in front of a live studio audience with host Chris Harrison. It also gives the contestants a chance to confront Brad Womack one more time. It is expected to feature such popular bachelorettes as Ashley H.

The special airs Monday, March 7, at 8:00 pm ET, on ABC, one week ahead of the season finale.

Food City 500 green flag time

The 2011 Food City 500, a.k.a. Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City, takes place March 20, 2011 at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee.

The spring race at Bristol Motor Speedway is the fourth race of the season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series featuring stock car racing’s elite teams and drivers.

The 2010 race was won by Jimmie Johnson.

Tony Stewart heads into the race as the Sprint Cup points leader, followed by Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards.

Edwards is coming off of a win at the Kobalt 400 in Las Vegas on March 6.

Qualifying will take place on Friday, March 18 at 3:40 pm.

The August race in Bristol is the popular night race many have come to associate with the track.

Food City sponsors announced earlier this year that the race would be named in honor of Jeff Byrd, who was the track’s president and GM until his death in October of 2010.

The Scotts EZ Seed 300, a Nationwide Series race, takes places the same weekend, on March 19 at 2 pm.
